Residential Organizing

Are you paralyzed by your environment? Are you sick of the mess? Do you want to create more time to do the things you love? Organizing and getting rid of your own clutter is difficult.

If you're feeling stressed, out of control, frustrated about the mounds of accumulation and don't know what to do,  I will:

        * Ask you the questions and hold your hand during the entire process, helping you stay on task
        * Help you establish your needs and priorities and develop a plan
        * Offer trustworthy, confidential support for achieving your goals
        * Work with you "hands on" or through consultation
        * Help you save time, money and reduce stress
        * Help simplify to make your environment suit your current needs
        * Provide systems and solutions for organization and storage
        * Organize and de-clutter any room of the house, including garage, attic, basement
        * Create more, or maximize, space and efficiency
        * Provide room in your garage for your car! Only in the US do we leave cars worth thousands of dollars in
                the driveway and put our useless junk in the garage.

Provide storage solutions and solutions for:

        * Mail station
        * Tax and important document files
        * Home inventory
        * Tracking birthdays, anniversaries and special events
        * Photograph storage and display
        * Magazine and junk mail management

You'll learn how to sort, categorize, and purge, and create a "home" for everything you own.

There is no need to be fearful of the process or of what I will think. I have no judgments and my work is totally confidential.

Organizing can be a great stress reliever--and my clients can attest to the FUN we have in the process.

"Spending two days organizing my home office with Judy has saved me weeks of time looking for things."
Anne Harvey

Event Planning

Do you have a special event you want to enjoy instead of manage?
Delegate the chore to an experienced event planner.
Whether it's a meeting, conference, or special personal event, I can work with you to determine the best location and secure it.
I will arrange for catering customized for your needs and publicize your event if requested.

"As Director of the Coupeville Arts Center for thirteen years, Judy was a wizard at organizing the logistics of twice annual weaving conferences of 300 people, year round visual arts workshops in a wide variety of locations, and helping plan an annual auction. She publicized the events and took the CAC from a dream to a nationally renown organization.”  Emily Ramsey, Past-President, Coupeville Arts Center

Artist Studio Organizing

I apply my organizing expertise, with my experience as a crafter and artist, in helping artists in their studios. All organizing principles apply with the exception of one--purging. Although it's healthy to move out those supplies you haven't used in 10 years to make room for something new, I don't generally encourage purging of art-making supplies.

However, it's difficult to make art when you can't find your tools, supplies, and "stuff." I have helped many artists, painters, weavers, crafters, and quilters, create more effective and efficient work spaces.

 "I now have more time to do what I want to do in a space that is cleared and ready. My tools are right here at my fingertips. Not once did I feel put down by Judy about my mess, and we had such fun."  Mary Black

Document and Historical Records Planning

        * Have you designated an Attorney in Fact?
        * If you lost your billfold could you notify credit card companies?
        * Have you talked with your family about your wishes?
        * Do you know where your important papers are and can you find them easily?
        * Are your important papers up to date?
        * Could your Attorney in Fact find important papers?

A passion of mine is making sure client's important legal papers and documents are in order. Preparing for the final stages of life is easily postponed, no matter your age. I urge clients to do themselves a favor and leave a gift to their families of affairs that are in order and easy to understand. You can save your family heartache, turmoil, and money by making your wishes understood.
I will not provide legal advice, but will help you identify the issues you need to discuss with an attorney.
I can help you determine your final wishes and means for disposition of your possessions, and provide an inventory.
I can provide a detailed inventory form for historical, health, and contact information for you to complete.

"Judy helped me gather information needed by my attorney in order to settle my late wife's estate. Now we're getting my files in order so it will be easier for my kids."  George Hammett

Recording Family and Personal Histories

"I wish I had recorded the stories my grandmother, grandfather--fill in the blanks--told. Now it's too late." How many times have you said that? Or heard it?
Our memories are fragile-they die with us-so it's important to preserve these precious events while we can. The time is NOW!

        * I prepare questions, working with family members, making sure each story and event important to them
             is told
        * I then listen to people tell their life and family stories and record them so their testimony is preserved
        * I arrange for the audio tapes to be transcribed, if desired. I provide a standard VHS videotape.

"Judy recorded over 30 hours of oral history with our 98 year old father and she got him to tell us stories we had never heard before. Plus, we got several hours of video. Best of all, we have not seen him so energized in years. She has a real knack for family story telling and made everyone feel comfortable in the process. Our advice: don't put off your family's oral history. Call Judy today." The Hokes of Mercer Island

Moving, Relocation and Downsizing

Moving time is normally stressful. Relocation for seniors can be doubly so. The transition of letting go of the lifetime collection of treasures can be extremely difficult.
My work with people in this fragile time of their lives involves sensitivity, compassion, and patience.
I work with clients and their families in determining what to take with them, what to give to loved ones, and what to leave behind.
I provide an inventory of items and options for preservation archive or display valuable family heirlooms.
I provide referrals for an estate sale, e-bay or dealer sale, if requested.
For the move I will:

        * Sort, organize, pack goods and label boxes
        * Coordinate the move and relocation with a moving company
        * Arrange for disposition of unwanted items to charities
        * Arrange for disconnection and reconnection of utilities, phones, etc.
        * Make the change of address notification
        * Arrange for final clean up of residence
        * Supervise movers
        * Unpack and organize all possessions

"She knows what she's doing. My advice is to listen to her and do what she tells you. She knows what she's talking about. Once I realized how necessary it was (downsizing for a move) it went real well.”  Carol Bradley
